Hi Duggan Nation!

It is your crazy brother/uncle/cousin from NYC!

I have been swept into a side project with one of my neighbors, who works at a big ad agency in the City. He is an animator who is putting together his own internal production division for tv commercial animation and other media. It is a company that has been in business for about 100 years (not much of an exaggeration). They have 650 offices worldwide. We've spent many a weekend night together drinking beers and talking while he's worked on his animation (well known cereal characters, etc.) slowly moving himself up the ladder. Of course we always kidded about him, but I've always said that he'll be going places. He always calls me his "Lawya!"

About a month or two ago, he started putting his production division together in NYC, and asked me if I knew anything about "Sustainability" because he has friends from CA who have celebrity friends, and other friends who are looking to help someone there who is starting his own organization for Sustainable practices (Google the term and also Green Buildings) and curriculums for schools. I told him about my environmental background and my knowledge of this business. Long story shortened, after many meetings and making new friends from CA (including meeting one of the children of a famous rock star who works with a company that uses a rodent as its mascot), I may becoming more involved with helping my friend set up something which has a chance of becoming a new phase in my career. I have just been nominated on the executive board of a Not For Profit Corporation. No pay for now, but a great cause, and possibly more later.

The reason why I'm putting this on our blog is that I need help with organizing my manic thoughts and researching and writing short articles which address the environment, earth science, sustainability, and grass roots advocacy. I'm putting it out to family members, brothers, sisters, nieces, or nephews or cousins who may be interested in a few hours here and there supporting with short articles, and research. I will also try to bring my law practice into this at some point, so Andrea may be interested, but anyone who thinks that this may be interesting should email me, so we can talk about this further. Right now you get credit on the article, and if this becomes regular, an "internship," and when it brings in $ then $. Give me a call.

That's it for now!

Love ya all!

Bri

Brian - call me. I may have some insight into some environmental products that have already been throught R&D, feasability testing, and certification processes that may help (and benefit from)this cause.

Bri,

Call me we will be back from Oregon on Wednesday, or I will call you. We have just started a Food Coop for local products and farmers in Proctor, we would love to go much bigger than we are starting. Just signed a lease, and are renovating now. This might work for us? Wow cool, we might be small but we have really big ideas on sustainability.

Brian- sounds interesting- if you have a topic that needs to be covered in terms of article writing/research, I would be happy to help. It would also give me an excuse to have Tony take the kids out of my hair for a bit!! :) After Sept- I will be back teaching full time for the first time in 6 yrs ( boo), so not sure how much help I could be after that. God knows, it will be hard enough just looking presentable 5 days a week! Best of Luck- sounds so exciting!

I will pass this along to Andrea and put my thinking cap on as well!

I heard from Mom that you were thinking about a visit 4th of July weekend. But this might not work for a few of us. Let me know your thoughts.
